LOS GOZOSOS ORPHANAGE
HOME AND SCHOOL FOR CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES
About LOS GOZOSOS ORPHANAGE
Los Gozosos, founded in 2003, is a special needs orphanage and school for children with disabilities. These children come from families who are not able to, or not willing to care for them because of their disabilities. The children at Los Gozosos have varying diagnoses from learning disabilities, muscular dystrophy, Downs Syndrome, hearing and vision difficulties and sensory integration difficulties.
The children attend school onsite, and some have now reached a third grade level. They also receive physical and occupational therapy a few times a week. The children also participate in Bible lessons, English, and Kaqchikel (Mayan language) classes. There are also a few children with special needs who do live in their family home, but attend the specialised school at Los Gozosos.
